I posted those pictures just to show that the eyes are not red, promo, behind-the-scenes, or not.

in the movie have red reflections going on at the very least.

Yes, red reflections on eyes. That's correct. Not red eyes.

I think Wor-Gar applied red eye correction to tease us.

Proof in this scene -- reflection.

The dark amber lenses were simply to hide the actor's face behind what would look like dark or black eyes. Like a doll's eyes.

I mean, no one has ever said Vader had 'red eyes' in Empire or Jedi. They got the dark color correct to hide the actor.

Gareth is fueling fan service with the red reflections in RO.

His eyes definitely seemed reddish/amber to me in RO. The changes in color from scene to scene could be due to lighting and angles. Part of it does look to be red reflections, but even then the rest of his armor and helmet are not reflecting red nearly as much as the eyes. So there is a red/amber tint in the eye lenses themselves.

But regardless of what color they actually were, I think red eyes for Vader looks great. I actually wish the RO HT were a tad more red and reflective. My opinion though.

It's so strange why they didn't just match the onscreen ANH look for Vader. There's so many other tiny details they lavished attention on.

But then look what they did to stormies (and presumably the stormies in the Solo solo movie.) Very mystifying choices.

The RO Vader is so wrong in so many ways if its supposed to be the 1977 ANH Vader.

But let's pretend...

For me, I just figure Vader's got a closet full of Vader outfits so any variance comes from his underling mix matching outfit bits.

Underling: How about the shiny helmet today, my Lord? Its freshly polished.

Vader: Very well.

This to me looks more like a reflection than actual amber lenses.

But this is the issue with this particular scene. It's not like the Mustafar scene, there's nothing red that he's looking at. He's looking out onto a space battle over Scarif. For all we know they purposely CGI'd the lenses to appear a bit red/amber.

I though the consensus was that Vader had amber lenses in ANH, which almost always appear black since light has to hit it just the correct way for the amber to show up. It's like all of our ANH/RO Vaders. They all have amber tinted lenses, the RO one more pronounced than the ANH helmet. But 95% of the time they just appear black on all of our shelves.

The screen caps I made are from a behind-the-scenes video, so it shows that the actual prop had lenses tinted amber and weren't enhanced digitally. If it were black or grey, it wouldn't appear very amber-ish like that. There's definitely a tint to the lenses. ESB and ROTJ on the other hand don't have that appearance. It's just pronounced more on the RO helmet than it was in ANH like TonTon said.

It's a little scary how quickly "serious" SW can become Robot Chicken.:lol

There is that one shot from Hoth base where Vader's helmet has the small ANH-style chin vent and the faintest hint of amber lenses - but is also the high gloss ESB helmet look and ESB-style shoulder armor, so hey - maybe Vader brought his underling to Hoth and did an armor swap right there.

If R1 Vader was the same as ANH Vader though, then how would we be able to call it "R1 Vader"? :lol

Yeah, I see your point.

I gotta agree with WG on this one though. A lot of the amber lense shots look like they are more a reflection of something rather than the actual lense color. In a lot of the amber lense scenes, as WG pointed out, you can also see a reddish reflection on the neck area of his mask. There's also shots where his lenses look solid black and with the exception of one, you don't see a reddish reflection on the neck of his mask.

For those that want the lenses to look red, like I did - since I dig changes - do the lens mod, and stick a bright white paper, or a shiny one - like origimi paper, on the inside. It will look red. Think I posted a pic a long time ago. Will see if I can find it.

Lens mod sounds scary, but in the 4 I've done, I've never ever had a problem.

Update: pic with Unmodified R1 helmet (left), modified r1(middle), modified ANH (right). Last two i placed shiny paper behind lenses.

TO be clear, last two lenses are unpainted, just placed paper behind to make their natural color pop

That modded ANH... did you lower the dome or is that just a lens distortion? Looks good either way. I've been thinking bout dropping mine a tad.

Were there 2 versions of the ANH Vader? I ended up waitlisting so i believe i got the 2nd batch. Lower than some i've seen but not lowered as much as Oh Hell No's mod.

Hah, Maybe i'm mistaken. I thought some of the ANH Vaders had allot of brow showing - more that the RO version or are the 2 versions exactly the same?
