Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Does anyone else think we'll get a die-cast Vader eventually? I don't know what the helmet was made from but it looked like metal and to me that would be the best way to properly paint and weather this character. The plastic seems to throw everything off. Did anyone ever paint a Sideshow Vader?

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

It could be worse like the SSC Vader set up from the 2013 Comic Con I belive?

SSC Empire Vader looks just as good/bad as this one.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Seeing the prototype pics again, I actually think it looks pretty good, if not slightly better than Hot Toys' (again, only referring to the prototype).

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Thanks for those Fab. Jesus. Why can companies not get Vader right? I can understand human sculpts being difficult but his face is made of geometric shapes for ****'s sake.

If they did a diecast Vader, the helmet would definitely not be one of the pieces done in metal. I'd say no chance, anyway. Really no point in a diecast Vader, at all.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

If they did a diecast Vader, it's probably be a metal left and right shoulder, metal shin guards and a metal lightsaber hilt for $350.

A few people on this board have said LFL won't allow it, that it insists on an idealized form of the character, not film accuracy. I don't know about the veracity of that, but it sounds interesting.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

There are so many people complaining about so many different things I wonder if they even know what they are complaining about anymore. People can’t even agree on what they are complaining about … this is too long, no its too short, no it should be silver, no it should be gunmetal, no it should be black. This is getting kind of stupid funny now.

Wait until we get the PO. Arrows, squiggly lines and charts to follow! :lol

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Yeah I have to agree the HT is a much better attempt at a basic Vader. I just wish it captured the ANH Vader a lot more than it does.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

It doesn't scream ANH it me, but still looks like a fine Vader, if I get it sideshows will be put to use for a fight scene where he can be partially hidden behind Luke, ht will take the upfront position

You're right, there should be a quota system for comments, with a lottery to decide who gets to have their say.

More seriously, someone posted some screen caps of Vader's opening scene in ANH int he stormtrooper thread, and it really makes you realise how important the cape is to Vader's imposing presence and how much the success of the HT Vader will depend on this.

Everyone knows about HT and capes but it would be great if they bucked the trend, if not I bet the first decent custom cape will transform this figure.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

wonder if this will be up for p/o this thursday or sometime early 2015?

I just got my Tony TDKR battle cape in the mail and I admire his work but seriously, where would he be if HT knew how to make a decent cape? :lol
