Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

All I know is that whatever suit was in that case... It was crude and beautiful all at the same time... And it was clear that it had seen some action.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

A note to Hot Toys: this is how the original face mask is painted!

(And before anyone says the nose is silver, then nope: just a reflection of light from the flash. Just look at the similar effect seen on the side of the nose bridge with the three notches).

Any more pics like this of the ANH Vader helmet Carsten? From different angles? This is how the eFX Vader Legend paint apps should have looked like

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

That is not the ANH suit. The title card is wrong, nothing on that is from ANH.

I'm guessing even if the ANH suit does still exist, it would probably be in too bad a shape to display anywhere.

Wow. Way to crush my childlike wonder and dreams that have existed for the last five years. Thanks, guys! Lol

Nooo kidding. We have to have a PHD in Vader Costuming to keep up here. I do not notice / care about many of the details of the costume. I most usually never compare a figure to a screen grab or reference. It makes me much easier to please haha.

This was from the Wichita stop on the costume and prop tour.

Yup, not ANH. From what I can tell those are RotJ parts.

I am not certain of this, but the ANH softparts were parted out after it was done touring around with Kermit Eller - some parts went to other tour costumes, and other stuff was used in ESB. All the hard parts were re-used in the movies, but in altered states. Many of the hardcore Vader enthusiasts are trying to pinpoint which helmet is the ANH refurbished one, but it is difficult and there are a lot of disagreements.

Sadly, the other pictures in this series has not been released and only very few people have them. I sadly haven't seen them, but know they exist. I believe it was mentioned that some or all of the other pictures were slightly out of focus, but I really don't know. But I have some other from other photoshoots.

Bingo, that's the same way I feel. I don't really care about the differences between movies... they are all Vader and whatever combination of minute details from each movie they use to make him up is fine with me... it does make life much easier too.

I'm with you. I think I have really bad eyes, because I can never see the differences. But then again, I kind of like the new Kenobi so my opinion is defective. Haha.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Yeah other than the point in the helmet and whether the tunic is draped over the chest or not, I have a hard time telling the various Vader costumes apart as well.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

I think the point is that it should capture not just the visual details but the essence of the character in each film. A shiny, polished symmetrical helmet is clearly wrong for ANH, but even if HT can't make it exactly accurate - maybe because of Lucasfilm - they need to at least capture what it was about the ANH Vader that made it special and makes it the perfect ANH Vader. I'd be hard put to put it into words, but then, I'm not an artist and HT sculptors are. i expect not just accuracy from them but an attempt to capture the soul of the character.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

So HT is going all QS002 Endoskeleton on Vader? Call it a specific thing but don't even look at reference for that specific thing and instead just make everything up from a jumble of different things.

You still saw a screen used Vader outfit, just not from the film it was billed as. That's still pretty cool to see in person.

Maybe because Vader is black/shiny and so harder to see many of the differences, I'm not as picky re: HT matching all these differences. I only know all the ANH vs ESB/ROJ differences because I'm doing a custom Vader.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

The ANH helmet was clearly asymmetrical, but I don't think that makes as big of a difference as others here do (and probably even less so at a 1/6 scale). To me it's really the lack of shine, the reddish lenses, and the lower helmet that defines the ANH Vader more than anything else. Those are the only things I think HT really needed to do a better job of capturing.

Me... I am picky when it comes to Vader(since I am a proud Vader snob)and the stuff I buy. The early proto/progress pic I saw of the HT Vader looked really good in overall shape... But it was from about 3-4 feet back so up close pics are different. But it does lack in specific ANH details. It's still the best 1/6 scale put out by any company so far.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

I learn a lot from the Vader snobs, but thank Haythoose I'm not one of them.
