A saber should be included, but Darth Vader is very often badass without it. He can certainly pull off being saber-less.

This type of scene would be impressive, but not nearly as impressive as a "Vader Down" type situation. No one has done a film with him really in action against rebels, they're not going to let the opportunity go by.....he'll have a saber.

Not saying we won't see something like this at the end though (hence the not so polished helmet in ANH start)....

Love this picture so much. Conveys that he is infact vulnerable (well almost). Almost like a secret moment where you see him like this injured. Not the standard depiction of Vader as power and invincibility.

He really needs to give up flying that bent-wing TIE - whenever he gets behind the wheel of that thing, it ends badly.

Watch Star Wars Rebels Season 2 lol. He can put in some work. But generally, all the tie fighters are garbage compared to the Rebel's ships. They're meant to be that way so they're cheaper to produce.

Dude can't even avoid someone swinging a wiffle bat. He has no business trying to dodge blasts in a TIE.

Agreed. Yoda seldom used his saber, but was able to convincingly convey his power without having to use it.

LOL JK. I know none of us mean prequels when generally referencing star wars.

:lol

No, I was actually including the PT when I made that statement. He only drew his lightsaber in the duel with Dooku because Dooku is the one that challenged him to a lightsaber duel. Yoda started off just merely using his knowledge and power with The Force.

I don't believe there will be anyone in R1 to challenge Vader to a lightsaber duel. Even in ANH, he was the one that challenged Obi-Wan.

The Jedi had no problem kicking the crap out of all those dumb battledroids though and Luke didn't have any issue against the skiff guards, so I don't know why Vader wouldn't use his as well. Hopefully Vader will use his if he's in any significant battles.

To say Vader will not use his light up sword is the equivalent of saying he will not see battle. Which may be the case.

But, to spend a moment with my thoughts... I'd like to think a Sith, like samurai, look at their swordsmanship as an art, it is part of their preferred way to battle. If they are going to see action / run through troops they will likely draw their blade. Sure they can use the force or blasters etc, but there is a reason they carry these "ancient weapons", there is something special about cutting a person down. To be a warrior. The intimacy. The honor in battle. And it sets a level and fair playing field for those who step in your path to challenge, otherwise there would be no honor in just choking everyone out. It's a statement in a sense, giving you a chance to battle them and each victory feeding them a sense of greater power. To be unmatched, only until another swordsmen of equal strength and ability can meet your challenge. It is this that makes them who they are. If we are to take this away from them, then the jedi just become silly dudes in bathrobes, with or without glowsticks. Keeping the Samurai aspect in tact is the only reason why I like the idea of Sith/Jedi.

In closing... Vader may not see battle, but if he does, he will draw his blade.

So you're saying the Hot Toys figure will come with a plastic blade.......:yess:

Exactly.

The best thing to come from these new [canon] Star Wars comics has been seeing a truly active Vader.

He's a ****ing beast that can single-handedly challenge an entire rebel battalion without a shred of fear.

It'd be a massive missed opportunity for ROGUE ONE not to show Vader unleashed.

And if they do miss their opportunity we'll need to petition for a Vader stand alone Anthology movie.

Yeah I passed on ANH Vader for the hopes they would announce this. HT didn't disappoint. It looks stellar. I'm going to say wait on the lightsaber blade until after the movie releases. If they don't announce it after, then we can pick up our pitchforks and torches.

That is exactly what I did, waited till they announced the Rogue One Vader and yes he looks so much better then ANH Vader aside from the ignited lightsaber but I could live with that.

This is what I'm hoping for also.

As opposed to just hanging around on the Death Star and the Super Star Destroyer, it'd be neat if R1 showed Vader actually in a ground battle or battles, f'ing people up.

I think Vader's character is more dramatic when he's all understated-menace and focused, as opposed to the idea of him being "unleashed". At that point there's nothing left to the imagination. I feel like a ground battle is somehow beneath him. :dunno

Couldn't disagree more.

Vader isn't a General or an Admiral. He's Palpatine's dragon. Combat is part of his job. There's a reason why Vader physically goes everywhere in ESB. He could have just sent for Luke every time and waited up on the Executor.

There's a reason Force users pack lightsabers.

you completely missed the point of my post. completely. did you even try? re-read it again. the point is... I want to be a samurai. *kung fu air chops*
