Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

^ Thats actually Chico, i thought it was Snake too at first but in the Ground Zeros extended trailer they discuss how to break Chico out. Chico is the anoying kid from Peace Walker if you didnt know

Also the Cambell looking guy is Kaz(Miller) with a hair cut. You can see he has a missing arm.
Its easy to miss things in the trailer, i just realised now Emmerich has some mechanical legs!
I didn't Google it :lol. But, I needed to dust out my New King James to pull out that reference from II Samuel, for a moment.

Nice one man. Well, we know Kojima's grasp on religious symbolism isn't very good *looks at MGS3&4*. Maybe thats general for Japanese, Evangelion has the same issue. Anyway Eli could easily be short for Eliab.

Personally i think, at least from a symbolic perspective, Liquid and Solids relationship could reference the Arch angels Gabriel and Michael but thats irrelevant i suppose.

In any case look forward to seeing liquids background. Infact im starting to get pumped for this MetalGear like i did before MGS4, i literally cant wait. Kojima not giving us a date broke my heart, now im certain we wont get anything until next year.
Im still hoping theyll release Ground Zeroes earlier to tide us over!

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

So me and a friend at work (we work at different sites) have been talking on the phone for hours trying to dissect and make sense of these trailers, :lol

so much to see and guess at and still tons of questions.

What weve found so far is Eli is liquid and we are presumming the kid in the cage is snake (i know the common theory is Paz from peace walker, but im just not feeling it)

Skull face is a wtf (who the ****), Keifer sutherland rules, and quite is mute and ocelots voice is perfect for a younger take

Then we have the dude that looks like a clean shaven non eyepatch wearing MGS3 BB, Im guessing strongly that this is Cambell. Also skull faces goons have the "FOX" emblem reversed to XOF? dont know what the deal is yet.

thats what weve got so far

Yeah, it's been a common theory that Eli is Liquid. The kid in the cage is Chico from PW (it's been confirmed). The clean shaven guy is Kaz. You can tell from his missing arm, glasses, and hair.

Yeah, who knows what Kojima's going to pull with this game in terms of references, and whatever else.

I'm slowly starting to get excited for this game, too - even despite the horrible state that the canon is currently in. It should be a much better game than MGS 4, that's for sure :rotfl.

Chico* not paz haha

and im talking about the dude with the diamond dogs beret being cambel, the one watching ocelot torture emerich

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

^ thats who were talking about to dude

Yeah, im really holding out on the idea that Kojima hired an editor and maybe a writer for the dialogue seeing that he wants the game to be more "cinematic" especially after hiring Kiefer.

Im still ******** over the loss of Hayter so they better ht it outta the park and get the best from Keifer

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

where do you see a missing arm? he's in a trench coat. Im trying to pause it to see

at the 2:40 mark of this video. [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQ8TZ4fRxFw&list=FL39GY3X4ePPfodfhPWbFdPw&feature=mh_lolz[/ame]

You're probably spot on with that, MGS4 felt very cold and flat. This will probably redeem my impression after the bad taste left in my mouth with MGSPW.

After all the discussion, MGSV has me turning around on what I think of the series. The fact that Big Boss is becoming a cold "demon" is giving me faith that the series canon might be getting back on track.

Yup. One of the main things that got me turned off from this series was the utter lack of character growth from Big Boss. His personality was fairly monotone from MGS 3, 4, Portable Ops, and Peace Walker, and it never evolved from, "I haz a sad, cuz I killed mah Bawzz!!". In addition, Kojima made Big Boss into such a good guy - which only negates all of the sacrifices from Solid Snake in defeating him.

I hope that we see Big Boss devolve into the maniacal war-monger, hell-bent on destroying the world. That would truly make me happy.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Keep watching the new trailer my hype is building for this game hoping Eli is liquid . Liking how brutal the trailer is love how the boss turned into a *******.

You got that right. Growth for him has been negative for the last two games. I'm just glad that they are making him the psychopathic tyrant he was in the first two games. It's been a slow burn to finally get any progression in his actual life. MPO and PW were pretty stagnant aside from the ending in PW where he discards the bandana.

The kid in the cage is Chico, and for Paz i'm pretty sure she is the one in that gruesome scene. Her hair are short now. And for clean shaven with DD beret guy is Kaz Miller.
BTW.... i still dont understand why "Quiet" outfit just like that.:naughty
I hope someone later in the game give her a decent outfit. (a decent outfit with cleavage pop up just like MGS female characters tradition.) :D

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Yep, unfortunately shes fallen into the typical female character trope of video games. Not only that but she doesn't speak? common Kojima

Every-time i watch it it makes more sense. He's got not only Liquids looks but his swagger too!

Yup! again this is Kojimas writing at fault so hopefully it aint a problem this time. The (implied) idea of Solid being the unknowing villain really negates half of the series. that doesn't sit well with me!
Its possible the previous stories didn't get into it since they weren't console titles, at least i hope!

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

This video is awesome I'm hyped about Eli could it be ...

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I expect Liquid to be made Big Boss's protege.

"I'm the one father chose."

By why in the same breathe call him inferior?

If Eli is indeed Liquid, which he pretty much is. Then the ace is bound to be David. And because he is the main character of the entire franchise ( or was ) i think its being kept very secret to the game. Surely some event will happen in the game, where Big Boss is aware of both, see's something in David through some kind of action that he see's in himself and see's Eli be a bit of a prick. Somewhere along the way that must of been the reason Big Boss planted the seed in Eli in order to make David thrive. The only other reason is that somebody bull****ted to Big Boss about who is superior and he believed it
