Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Infact after thinking about that. He didnt spend any time with David to make him thrive thinking he was weaker. Its not like they were raised together. Maybe he tried to make Eli the best he could be by doing the whole reverse psychology and hammering home that Liquid was weaker. To make him push to be stronger.

Well in any case, its too early to speculate the meaning of that sentence if we do not even know for sure this kid is who we think he is and even if this is the game Big Daddy Jack takes him under his wing.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

If Eli is indeed Liquid, which he pretty much is. Then the ace is bound to be David. And because he is the main character of the entire franchise ( or was ) i think its being kept very secret to the game. Surely some event will happen in the game, where Big Boss is aware of both, see's something in David through some kind of action that he see's in himself and see's Eli be a bit of a prick. Somewhere along the way that must of been the reason Big Boss planted the see in Eli in order to make David thrive. The only other reason is that somebody bull****ted to Big Boss

If you read the awful Raymond Benson MGS novel. Dr.Clark seems to have lied about which Snake was inferior and superior as a little experiment. I haven't read it in a few years so correct me if I'm wrong, I don't think it's even canon.

But I digress. We really were never told the circumstances on the purpose of lying to Liquid all those years. But we do know is that the mental experiment did work and Liquid was fully convinced in his genetics being inferior.

Snake on the other hand was completely oblivious to his true origin, and even when the whole dominant and recessive story confronted him it didn't really seem to matter to Snake at all. I think Snake essentially was the strongest of all the Snakes based on his will to succeed and survive.

I think Big Boss wanted an heir to pass his ideology of Outer Heaven to. I mean that's a given especially after Liquid talks about Big Boss's "dream."

But what really is Big Boss's dream? I mean if you go by the Snake era, it seems like Big Boss wanted to have a world where soldiers had no country and fought for themselves. In PW it just seems like Big Boss is building an empire with no real direction other than not being under Cipher's rule.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

It might be possible to see a verison of Solid snake at the end.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

He brings up some good points - especially about XOF, Skull Face, and Code Talker. But, there's so much over-analysis in that video. Quiet might have lost her ability to speak from extreme trauma (probably due to systematic torture like we saw in the trailer). It doesn't necessarily mean that her tongue was physically removed. Also, why would Miller and Ocelot decide to torture someone who's unable to communicate with them (assuming that her tongue was removed)? It just doesn't make sense.

And how did he make the jump to Big Boss "killing innocent lives"? The trailer didn't exactly show who Big Boss was firing at.

The four "cyborgs" or whatever at the end of the trailer may not necessarily cyborgs, or re-incarnations of the Cobra unit. To assume those two points is a far stretch, in my opinion. Especially considering that cyborg technology never existed in the 80s, and let alone, in the Metal Gear universe at that time (since Solid Snake didn't battle any cyborgs in the MSX games). The Patriots also pioneered the technology by using Gray Fox as their test subject. This would have happened after the events of Metal Gear 2 - when Gray Fox was killed by Solid Snake.

That's what I think, it might be the biggest gem of the entire game and probably kept absolutely secret until the game is released.

I think Big Boss's dream was to have a world without borders, where "soldiers without borders" could call home. And Outer Heaven was the organization that he created to do it. Going by what we learned in MGS 4 and Peace Walker (and especially from Ocelot's long speech toward the end of MGS 4), it got to the point where Big Boss was against all forms of political control; whether it was Communism or Capitalism - basically, anything that Zero could use as a means to an end to enslave the world and bend it to the will of The Patriots.

As for Liquid, hopefully his story is explained well in this installment.

can't wait for this, but I'm almost sure that the whole Kiefer thing is a ruse. I mean David Hayter tweeted a day before the Konami conference "I hope I don't lose my voice ;)"

He was just trolling on Twitter. He also said, "Ah well, Can't fault @RealKiefer Great actor, good man. The game will probably still be excellent. Like New Coke!".

And we all know that new Coke sucks.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

well it's not big boss in MGSV as when they first showed the trailer it said Punished Snake, I also find it totally weird that in the trailer Snake still has that Horn on his head

No, it's Big Boss. In the last game, which was Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Big Boss refused to be called "Snake" after he came to grips with the death of his mentor (The Boss). He then officially took up the title of Big Boss. "Punished Snake" is just a weird nickname for the character. It's just horrible on Kojima's part that he has still insisted on referring to him as Snake.

And yes, the horn does look ridiculous.
