Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I hope the AI in the demo isn't a indicator of what were getting since it looks like PS2 AI. Why are they so blind still?

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Well, I think it's pretty clear that this game isn't going to be big hit with many of the fans - at least, not like how MGS 3 was. To me, it just seems less of an MGS game, and more of an advertisement for the pretty graphics of the FOX Engine.

I think it’s a sort of reboot for the series. I think the mechanics and the way we all played previous Metal Gear games died with MGS4.

I don’t see any problems with more gameplay options in this game, driving is fine with me, riding horses is also fine by me. The fact that Stealth elements are also mixed in with everything is great and unique.

This game was never meant to be like the originals, it’s a new engine, and a new direction, even the way the story will be presented much differently then before.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I think the AI in MGS2 and 3 was far better than in this demo :lol

Blind as ****.

The demo was on easy and still needs to be tuned. I wouldn’t make a fuss over it at all.

I remember when the recent Hitman game came out, all the fans were whining about seeing through walls feature, and all the other features they made to make the game more accessible, then when it came out, there was a hard mode, with none of that in it. Fans were even upset about the more realistic disguise system in it (which I hated).

My main problems with what was shown certainly had nothing to do with the difficulty, it was more of some weird animations and movements that I saw. A game like this might not be to good to make in 60 fps. It makes everything look less organic and really fast in my opinion.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I think it ties down very well with the "originals" in terms of gameplay in many levels as well as adding all that new stuff.

And yeah, I don't worry about the animations, those will most likely get fixed.

I worry about the AI because in PW, in the demos and all, the AI was dumb and it ended up being dumb in the final release, sooo...

Hopefully it isn't like that though.

I can understand that, but I think it is because it was a psp game. The other Metal Gears were not that easy at all.

More than the gameplay, I just hope the story is great. Everything they have shown story was looks absolutely great and has me excited.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Yep same here man, everything is shaping up to be great from the gameplay to the direction they are taking the story in.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

There's always that one condescending gif :lol

The gameplay is shaping into something that could be fantastic if they twitch it in the already mentioned areas and the Story is yet to be judged, but all&all, I remain very optimistic, definitely on the pro side.

Yea, I’m use to it here, anyway with the darker tone this game is taking, and its controversial themes, I am pretty sure the story will be great, if its presented well. I am more worried about the gameplay as of now. While is looks great, I hope the open world doesn’t interfere with unique moments, and great boss bottles the series is known for.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Is it just me or it's really not that open world?.. based on the demo it looks like levels were designed to look like the stages in the 1st tenchu games where you are placed in a open map and you have the freedom on to approach the goal any direction you like. When they said it to be open world i was expecting somethign ala GTA whee you go to parts of an massively open world..

Well basing on the demo it looks like theyll have lots of different maps patched together and youll travel with a menu like PW

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Dayum, Kojima's been re-tweeting Midge Ure a lot recently, much more than he's ever re-tweeted other folks. I'd be lying if I say I wouldn't want Ultravox doing a MGS game, especially one set in the 80's. I was a huge fan back then.

I remember in MG2:SS there was a direct reference to Ultravox, so was in MGS2 when meeting the ninja.

Make it happen Kojima! Don't make that bromance all for nothing! :lol
