Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

im hoping the new game have more gameplay to it since its open world than cutscenes .. really when i first bought MGS4 i was waiting to play .. not grab a popcorn and watch a damn movie and just wait for the gameplay to come in ..

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

That poster looks freaking fantastic, who cares if it looks like the one for TLOU? :lol every single poster ever released for anything (movie or video game) Is either cliché or a copy of another poster.

That front face in the front and profile on the back has been done to death, but it still looks cool.

Agreed, MGS4 poster was a lot worse.

I don’t think you will have that problem with this game. Kojima has stated many times most of the story will come while you play, instead of cutscenes.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I've only seen Seesons 1&2 of 24, and I can't see how anyone could dislike season 1. It's amazing, and Keifer is a great actor. My issue with him playing big boss is that he IS jack Bauer, so no purely for that reason.

On MGSV, no it's not getting released episodically. It's ground Zeroes soon then The Phantom Pain maybe around Winter. It's great that GZ is coming sooner, I couldn't wait till winter for a taste of this game. Again people stop complaining!!!

I find the release weird, but I’m excited as hell. I was scared I would have to wait until 2015 to play this game. Definitely getting this for ps4.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

MGS4 cutscenes are way too long and the briefings as well. I really don't like how there's a warzone in most acts and all. It doesn't work that well I think, and it seems more action orientated than the other games, yet unlike other stealth series that did this, MGS didn't get called out. I don't think the game deserves a 10, though I don't think it's bad.

I do honestly prefer MGS 3 as my favorite of the series even if Kojima is trying too hard to replicate it

It's beyond me that Famitsu gave it a 40/40.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Well, the theme was war-economy, so it made sense that it developed in war zones, also, it wasn't that the game was action oriented, but more that it gave you the choice to play it like that, while still keeping all the stealth elements, personally, I played most of it stealthily it was more rewarding, previous games were 100% stealth and if you caught, instead of dealing with the situation, the game was designed so you'd escape and hide.

You can still do that in MGS4 but it gave you more tools to deal with those kinds of situations, but the game heavily rewarded you for being sneaky, nothing to be called out for imo.

:exactly: And the fact that they didn't question the storyline:slap

Seriously. I don't think MGS4 is the worst game in the series nor a terrible game on its own, but I am disappointed. I have some issues with each game in the series honestly, that I'm pretty sure everyone else here could guess, but 4 I just don't know.

The issue I have is that a lot of people tore games like Splinter Cell apart for being action orientated, or at least giving more options for action but no one mentions it in MGS4. Hell in other stealth games that take an action route, that's connected to the theme too.

I can still sneak around in 4, but I don't think it's too well done. Nice idea, I guess.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I think the stealth mechanics in MGS4 are the best out of the whole franchise so far, all the mechanics were just brilliant and polished, sure you can always go Rambo on those mofos, but that's easy... crawling, disarming and knocking down enemies with that perfect cqc system is unrivalled, MGS4 is the deepest one in terms of gameplay.

SC lacks the depth MGS4 has in terms of stealth, and in recent games, even the action has been watered down, MGS4 doesn't suffer from that.

I appreciate SC but there's no match between that franchise and MGS, at least the ones I've played, which are the 1st one, PT, CT, DA, and I played conviction but it's was way too watered down for me to stay interested.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

MGS4 is very broken and too much in the player's favor. The Drebin store being always available, and earning points far too easily destroys any sense of achievement. The stealth aspect is probably the easiest in the whole series outside of the outright retarded AI in Peace Walker. Visually MGS4 is beautiful, but I don't think it goes any further than that. The Boss battles were also very simple to get through.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I thought something was wrong with PW's stealth. It's not bad, but it felt easier than it should. (not cause of how short levels were which being a portable game originally is fine)

The Drebin Stores...why? In boss fights that's fine, but outside that you're right Plissken.

I'm not sure what to make on the stealth since I still need to beat the game. I've been caught up with other things. I think the mechanics worked but I don't like everything. SC is pretty problematic in general.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I found MGS4 to be the most difficult one compared to the others.

The Drebin store only gave you parts, they didn't increase the damage the weapons caused unlike in PW, in fact, there was little advantages between one weapon to another other than for more or less recoil, it really didn't mess with the sneaking aspect of the game, which was the hardest one compared to the previous games, in the higher difficulties, the enemies could spot you from one side to the map to another, and when you triggered the alert the AI was fierce as ****, it didn't compared to even MGS3.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

The mass amount of available weapons, ammunition, MK II, and any other distracting device really gives the soldiers no advantage.

The CQC is just beautiful to perform and watch.

It requires quite some skill to do so, not only smashing buttons.

The MK is nothing compared to the soliton radar :lol

Like I said, there was virtually no advantages of choosing one weapon or another other than more or less recoil.

And in previous games they just give you the weapons and ammo right there in the middle of the Boss Battles, so there's really no difference there.
