Divide? Man of Steel was divisive, Man of Steel was Galileo and the pope :lol MGSV just sprung a few strong negative opinions (like yours and Pliss) where there used to be almost none, albeit valid ones, other than that, I see that most people on facebook and youtube are largely supportive and hyped, save for the Sutherland affair which till this day I still see "bring back Hayter" comments.

I’ve actually seen quite a few Kojima bashers on numerous websites. He’s pretty much the Chistopher Nolan of the video game industry in terms of image. He gets judged a lot harsher than other developers in the industry because of his popularity. I don’t think any of us can say he’s made a bad game yet, but some of his critics act like he produces turds.

Ryan, you watch Nostalgia Critic? Awesome! I like the cut of your gib :hi5: Man of Steel has left me divided too, some things I like (Henry Cavill in general, what they were trying to go) some things I hate (trying too hard to be epic, to be dark and edgy sometimes, so on [I AM JESUS. I AM JESUS. I AM JESUS. I AM JESUS. I AM JESUS. I AM JESUS.]) but w/e. I've seen worse.

Bane, I kind of got a weird vibe from your previous post too but I know you're not bad from the DBZ thread. Also good on you for clarifying :duff: Solidus is right though yeah. Wish I got into this series earlier so I could have more to say, but I had my reasons.

I actually liked Superman Returns more than MOS. Gasp, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you mention SR, I’m assuming you hated it.

I think a sequel would have been perfect, some of the stuff Singer had in mind sounded really interesting, and I heard WB wanted a lot more action in it. I feel bad for Routh, his career has been pretty much dead since SR. I thought he did a pretty good job as Clark and Superman.

Nope, I liked it, it's more a character study, I liked Routh and Spacey, and the story overall, the rest of the cast I didn't care for, and it has some of the coolest scenes ever, but it was on a continuity that was being forced into revival.

I do like (You know what movie) better.

Man of Steel :monkey3

Watching it made me really feel for Superman, no other comic, movie, or cartoon has been able to do that for me.

The continuity makes no sense at all, but I guess it was like a quasi-reboot, the cinematography is probably the best I’ve ever seen in a superhero movie, and the score was incredible.

Watching it, I never felt like I needed to see Superman punch somebody, I was more interested in his plight, and how Singer pretty much humanized Superman by showing us how he could never really “fit in” because he’s an alien, if that makes sense. :lol

Oh yes, I'm a huge fan and I've seen every episode! Godzilla (1998), Transformers, Cute Burger, Judge Dread, Face-Off, Power Rangers Turbo and The Lost World are some of my top favorites, do you have any favorites in mind? :lol

I've never seen Superman Returns in its entirety despite owning the blu ray. Shame on me. :slap :lol

Tell me, what are the good points you can mention about returns?

Right off the bat, Routh overall performance as well as Spacey, plane rescue, car rescue, minigun scene, metropolis rescue, Luthor kick Supes' ass, kryptonite stab, mountain lift...

I'll get to watching it someday. I have two MAJOR turn offs in that movie that kinda killed my interest.

1. Luthor being campy like the Hackman version. Donner's Luthor was fine for the time, but by 2006 I really wanted him to be like Clancy Brown.
2. Superman has a kid because of his fling in Superman II. And what' up with DC heroes having unprotected sex anyway? :monkey3

1. I don't mind campy Luthor, given it's the same continuity.
2. And that amnesia kiss prevented him to pay child support, genius. :lol

It was actually a very humanizing movie indeed, I do think MoS did a good job with that too.

Yes, the cinematography and score are great, the action scenes still pump my blood, and yes, it was Superman the protector not the bruiser.

I'm just a Supes' fan all around I like most of Supes' stuff.

Thanks. It was completely my fault. I was trying to write something "decent," but because I misread the comment, I came off like a complete moron. I actually did the same thing on the DBZ thread, misreading someone's comment thinking they were being racist. I live in Detroit, so I grew up with tons of racism, so I was sensitive to the comments. I apologized to the person, and thankfully someone here notified me of my error! I have health problems, where I misunderstand a lot of things, and have an awful memory. I've done it with my family a lot, and feel awful because of it. I didn't want anyone to know that, but it's better than people thinking I'm a jerk. Not that I'm perfect otherwise! Once again, I am truly sorry.

It's cool man, you should be proud of yourself for having good intentions, which most people also have on this board. Thing is, we had a resident troll not too long ago and most of us have been paranoid ever since. He would resort to derogatory insults and hijacking the thread which in turn truly killed everyone's enthusiasm on the MGS board. He even went so far as creating multiple accounts after he was banned multiple times. He's gone... for now.

You arrived at the perfect time, this thread very peaceful now it wasn't always like this. We are like a big family here, so don't worry everyone is very friendly and understanding :duff

I’m not really a big Superman fan, so I don’t know if you’d like it or not with some of the liberties taken with the character, but just as like a character study, I really think the movie shows Superman’s disconnect from mankind better than any other movie or cartoon I watched (haven’t read much Superman comics). I think it was done in a way that wasn’t cliche, which was my main problem with Man of Steel.

Like Gasp said, I really liked Routh and Spacey, even though Routh looked a bit too young I thought he did a great job and emulating Reeve, but still making the character his own, he was a little more serious than Reeve. I actually really liked Kate Bosworth as Lois, most people felt she was miscast, but since I don’t know much about the comics, or her character other than she’s a journalist that loves Superman I was able to appreciate her performance more than some others. I thought she was certainly better than Amy Adams’ Lois.

If the Super kid thing bothers you, you might be able to enjoy the movie more now since you know theres no sequels coming, so its kind of a perfect ending for the Donner-verse Superman.

I actually understood what you were saying, I don’t think you were really off either. If you hate the direction Metal Gear is going in, then you’ll probably rub some members wrong on here, and if you like it you’ll probably rub some members wrong, this thread is chaos, but for some reason most of us still come in to talk about the game….

I'm just a Supes' fan all around I like most of Supes' stuff.

My favorite scene in the movie is when he hears Lois say she never loved him, and he flies away and the camera pans in on his face, he looks devastated, and you hear Marlon Brando’s words reinforce Sup’s feelings at the time, that he would always feel alienated, next shot he’s floating in space so he can be at peace. That scene right there, even though theres no action, makes my top 10 superhero movie sequences.

Thanks so much guys!

I really like Superman, but I don't know if I can call myself a big fan. I've read at least 300 issues though, if that counts for anything! Superman Peace on Earth is still my favorite Superman story, but I never seen it brought up in "Best of Superman" articles. They sure like to list a bunch of origins though!

I have the complete All Star Superman hardcover and I adored the movie adaptation as well, the ending is totally what TDK Rises should have been. :lol

Also, any casual Superman fans out there, check out the movie Superman Vs. The Elite. We live in a culture where pre-Man of Steell it was cool to hate on Supes and this movie addressed it beautifully.

I like Superman too, I watched most the Animated Series and liked him in Justice League along with his cameos in Batman The Animated Series. I still prefer Batman of course, always have, always will. All Star Superman is pretty good though and the animated movie adaptation as well. And I plan on getting a Reeve Hot Toys sometime, when my parents pay me back anyway >.>

The HT Reeve Supes is one of the finest figures you'll ever own, it just brings so much joy. Look forward to it! :clap

I'm thinking of buying the new Sideshow 1/4 scale Reeve Superman PF, but I'm not really feeling the pose or the sculpt just yet. Hopefully they fix that up.

All Star I've watched recently, it's pretty good, I haven't got a chance to see Superman vs the Elite yet.
