Just to jump in on the debate.... I don't own any die-cast figures yet. I'd like to own at least one and was gonna order the MJKIII, but I have the original MKIII BD version and don't feel the need to re buy it since it's no longer my favorite suit (MKVII all the way :yess:)... But in the pictures I see I can't really tell the difference, and if anything I feel the plastic ones pop more, have brighter colors and show more detail than any with die cast parts. Heartbreaker and Silver Centirion are awesome. So based on that alone and not just price, I'd prefer plastic..

Thanks ScottPSU. I plan to dabble in this hobby. Can't afford to jump into it as deep as some of the other guys on this site as much as I'd like to!

Appreciate the info loki2371. Mark 7 is easily my favorite suit as well. I'd love to own it but I think that ship may have sailed for me (don't want to risk getting a 2 year old figure that may be defective and the price people want for them is crazy in my eyes). Regarding plastic vs diecast, you and a few other posters make some really compelling arguments. The ability to do flight poses is a huge plus. If people truly can't tell the difference, then I'd much rather pay the lower plastic price. Ultimately, I guess my feeling on the subject won't be cemented until I have diecast WM in one hand and a plastic figure in the other. Truly appreciate the insight though!

The main practical advantage to diecast figures for me is that they have the button on their butts that enable them to achieve the classic landing pose.

Is this something they could do with plastic armors I wonder...

That said, gimme a plastic 45 ha

I've never liked the way die-cast figures are posed. Those flaps above the thighs irritate the heck out of me. I just absolutely dispise them. I'd probably prefer a plastic 45. But if they go die-cast they better find a way of making that look better.

Good point. The flaps offer great poseability but are a bit of an eyesore.

Just saw the movie for the 4th time. I think it just gets better with each viewing. I'd still kill for a Mark 45 suit-up scene. It's going to be hard to resist that figure.

Noticed for the first time that Natasha calls IM "Shellhead" near the end of the movie ... pretty sure that's the first time we hear that in the MCU.

IMO, diecast just seems appropriate for Iron Man and War Machine. Maybe in the toy world that's just being ignorant as mostly everyone has claimed that there is visually no difference, but that's just my pov right now. Either way, I'm open and willing to learn about this hobby that has totally drawn me away from all sneaker forums.

I agree. There are two types of figure I like. The Iron Man/Terminator looking stuff, which I think diecast is probably appropriate (don't own one yet), and the character likeness models.. preferable without ugly joints (although I understand some of the posing set backs and perishing issues that the alternative can offer)..

Take the Hulk... Hulk has never interested me as a character anyway, but I wouldn't be interested in buying what looks like a more expensive version of a toy I played with when I was a kid. Give me a figure that looks like Arnie, or Hemsworth, or Downey jr, with good quality looking clothes and weapons and I'm thinking wow, I like that for display purposes... even just to admire for myself..

I don't get this. What would a suit up scene add? I usually hate those because I have a hard time suspending disbelief when all of the pieces comes flying thru the air like that. What exactly propelles all of the individual pieces thru the air like that. Does each piece have a build in jet engine or something?

I always took it as being some genius playboy billionaire philanthropist science version of telekinesis...

Stark flies around in a tin can and shoots lasers from his palms and chest, but it's the suit up assembly that you have a hard time believing? Interesting.

Repulsor technology introduced in Iron man 1 in the Jericho missles.

I'm still wondering how much money it cost him to fix the hole in his house after crashing thru it in the Mark 2...

Each piece has repulser jets on them. I'm also assuming that they are powered from either small reactor or battery something, and they recharge when the suit is altogether.

Especially since the Mk 2-7 (and who knows which others) don't actually fly around in individual pieces. The suit up for the 4 was the gantry.

That's what makes the earlier IM films more appealing for me, the technology is advanced but it's still limited in how fantastical it is and has more real world limitations.

Still don't like it. I just seems way over the top that each individual piece would be powered..

:dunno
I don't like it either, I mean I don't mind but I prefer the suit up with the gantry type thing, thats much better imo, but I guess not very practical.
The VII pod thing was also cool.

I just think it's cool to see him armor up ha they probably had no new ideas on how to do it or were strapped for time and had to cut it out but dammit it's just awesome.
