I don't have it in hand yet admittedly, but from the pics I have seen the proto and the in-hand pics look the same.

You guys are not alone. I just got my figure and this has to be the most disappointing IM. The paint work is just crap. The gloss is inconsistent all over and not only the figure looks so plasticky as compared to the rest of the IM series, the paint on the arm shoulder armor & parts of hands have already faded. What a waste of money.
Send it to me then, lol

Just paid FB Collectibles for it! Can't wait! Read through the previous posts. I guess nothing can be perfect. Though over the years, the way HT's level of quality has increased, I believe we've started expecting flawless figures, which, in my opinion can not always happen. To me, the least is that I am just very happy about getting a nice looking Mark V. Stickler for perfection is one of my strengths I write in my resume', but for this or figures in general, I have to give some leeway. Look at it this way, at least it does not look as off as Indy..

They are. The only hands with the figure that are any different are the two that are specially made for the battle-damaged arm.

The pairs of fists, splayed fingers, and articulated hands are the exact same as all the others.

Huh? I was referencing Nova-Force saying the silver parts on the V aren't the same paint job as on the proto.

Rubio95- thanks for the write up. Reading that makes me feel a great deal better about being charged $200 bucks for this guy.

Got this bad boy on Friday.

Finally got a chance to sit down and soak in the awesomeness.
What a gem this figure is!

There very much is a cut/swivel joint on the upper thigh. This, combined with the fact that there are no flare pods in the hips allows a greater range of movement in the legs than the Mark 6.

The shoulder pauldron redesign is brilliant, and allows the arms to raise slightly higher than the Mark 3 or 6. Plus, there is sculpted gack in the figure's armpit, so when the arms are raised in this pose there is no exposed inner blank plastic (compare to the Mark 3).

The knee engineering works with two plates mimicing the patella, allowing the double knee joint to fully flex while hiding nearly all of the joint gap. Very clever. The ankle articulation seems slightly less than the Mark 6, but a bit of dremel-work could increase the range of motion. The sliding armor panel for the toe articulation is new and ingenious.

The torso is the most improved, redesigned articulation. Two separate joints provide crouching, swivel and back-arcing stances. The joints are all tight and hold their postitions nicely. Overall, this is the most articulated IM armor yet. The fact that this suit never existed practically (and could be cheated in CGI) makes HT's engineering accomplishments all the more impressive.

Folks who are whining about the paint job on this beauty must be blind. It looks stunning. Hot Toys must be using stencils and masking techniques with robotic spray rigs. There's no way this fig was hand painted with this kind of precision. I can find no slop on my fig.

My only nitpicks with this fig would be (1) there is substantial light bleed around the helmet and hands in a dark room. The LEDs (especially the chest RT) are really too bright. I found the Mark 6 had too bright of a chest LED as well. They're so bright that they wash out the details around the chest reactor.
(2) The small silver battle damage section is a major headache to remove & replace. They should have gone with a simple, quick magnet as a solution (like the bicep on the Mark 6). The larger delta-shaped chest piece is wonderfully easy to remove. The innerframe gack under the chestpiece is amazing. Like a Seiko watch band . . .

As a Shellhead fan, and an admirer of the suitcase suit, I can honestly say Christmas came early this year. :yess:

Got mine today.....no flaws at all.....came from CSC which they package their stuff really well with the green packing peanuts....Totally happy with it. Will post pics after work.

Got mine today as well. I'm very pleased with it. I'll be doing photos as soon as I have the time and energy. I noticed the light bleed in the head as well. It doesn't bother me very much, but I'm wondering if there isn't a simple solution to this minor nitpick....probably something obvious that I'm just overlooking.

The overjuiced arc reactor (I noticed this in my Mark VI and War Machine as well) could be remedied with a small piece of slightly opaque (is that a contradiction...."slightly opaque"?hmmm) material. I'm thinking simple Scotch tape might work perfectly....

I've used a carefully cut out piece of plain printer paper in my Mark VI. Particularly with the Mark VI it diffuses the light better to fill in the triangle.

I used toilet paper behind the chest armor and behind the face mask lol!

For a moment I thought this was the Mark VI thread :) Very nice poses rubio! But I wish we could do something about that neck; it just, you know, spoils the entire look IMHO. I mostly have this guy looking down or a little sideways..

I know, I was just showing the diffused LEDs from my older figures lol!
