Star Wars (ANH) was released in the 70's. Back then the duel looked cool even Kenobi's spin...For the prequels Lucas had modern tech and a new audience to show off some lame spins, kicks, and flipping sabers. The Jedi & Sith seem to be in a cheerleader squad on their own to impress each other or something.....

The problem with the dome is that the brow doesn't extend far enough outwards and this is because they have the dome skirt pretty much circular, where it should be an oval with almost straight sides. Until they fix that they'll never get the dome right. And they need to slim the brow area vertically.

The leather suits looks horrible. The oversized leather folds are just all sorts of wrong. The suit should be almost smooth leather, not grainy.

And I agree the strap-on glove idea is really bad.

The belt boxes needs a serious overhaul as well as the chest box. Both in detail and size. In sixth scale the chest box should be 2.8 cm wide and high.

I was about to pre-order from a local retailer then I remembered sideshowfreaks so I thought I'd check out what the hardcore phanz were saying.
Dammit. Now I can't not see these faults!
I'm going to wait for a photo closer to the release date and see what's been tweaked.

That'll teach you.

There wouldn't have been an issue if there wasn't so much to bash! :lol

The ANH Duel makes sense to me in the way that the ROTS dual with the emperor and Yoda didn't. Old people shouldn't fight like 18 year old karate masters giving Bruce Lee a run for his money. Imagine the Gandalf/Balrog scene reimagined by George Lucas? Gandalf would roundhouse kick it or some crazy ****. :lol

Arg, what have you done?! That image will pop inside my head next time I watch that (amazing) movie.

Wasn't there a rumour once that Lucas was going to 'improve' Star wars by adding shots of ObiWan and Vader doing somersaults doing the duel and a scene of Vader and the emperor in the ruins of the Jedi Temple? I'm going back over a decade here.

I mean, I know what you're trying to say here but you can't lie and say that the image of Gandalf roundhouse kicking the Balrog isn't ****ing awesome to imagine for a second. :lol

Haha truth be told I'd watch it!

"YOU... SHALL NOT... PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSS!!!!" *BOOT*

"no need to fly.. you fools."

I got to this discussion late, and of course King Darkness' .gif speaks for itself. Anytime anyone says that the PT fights were awesome, the sequence in the .gif is the first thing that comes to mind. The two sequences in Episode One were the best of the Prequels. The mirrored shot from RotJ in the beginning of RotS was really nice, but otherwise, they're all poor. I don't know how four arms with four lightsabers lose to two arms with two lightsabers.

Anyways, the reason for my post is that I actually think that the Obi-Wan/Darth Vader fight in ANH is the most important fight and contains the most important moment from the entire series (Prequel and OT). When Obi-Wan and Darth Vader are fighting, that's when the rest of the crew all make it to the hangar where the Falcon is waiting and ready to launch. As Luke is running across the way, he sees Obi-Wan, and Obi-Wan sees him. It is at this point that Obi-Wan ceases fighting and apparently starts his One-with-the Force ritual, and is cut down by Vader.

I believe that Obi-Wan felt that he had accomplished his 'mission' by essentially introducing son to father, or redeemer to sinner. I don't really think that Lucas had intended it to come across that way, but the look that comes across Obi-Wan's face is pretty powerful. Added to the fact that after giving that look, he STOPPED FIGHTING.

As others have said, the lightsaber battles in the Original Trilogy all had emotion and gravity, and a greater purpose than just a 'wow' factor.

Thought this might help the debate...

HT on left, Sideshow on right

That ANH chest box is the same damn size as the ESB one and it shouldn't be.

They both got serious issues.

Strange thing is that even though the ANH helmet is probably more technically accurate than the ESB/ROTJ one, the ANH helmet just feels a LOT more off to me somehow. Like it's way too bug-eyed or something.

This. Never really thought about how manipulative a moment it was. Obi-Wan just controls Luke from the grave and this scene is huge for that. As far as saber duels go it does fall a little short these days, but it's a powerful moment for sure. :goodpost:

Obi-wan became a father figure for Luke then martyred himself to ensure Luke would see Vader as a monster. Obi-wan was all about manipulating Luke to achieve his own goals.

He really was so easy to toy with. He's never heard of the force and then 10 minutes later he's admonishing Han for not believing in it.
