Shouldn't the helmet have way more shine? needs a clear coat or something.

No. The helmet dome had a matte finish in Star Wars (A New Hope) so that is accurate.

Not even close and that's from someone that liked SSC's Deluxe. I honestly don't understand most of the nitpicking on this figure but Yankees' is the most non-sensical (no offense, YFB) in that that profile is really flattering to the figure. A lot of the guys criticizing it don't really seem to know what they're talking about. Only that it's "off", not a home run, blah, blah. Guaranteed it'll be the best 1:6 Vader outside of a custom on release (not even limiting it to ANH).

I know I can't recite chapter and verse all of the details that make Vader "Vader" like others on this forum can. But I had high hopes/expectations for this figure and so far, they haven't been met.

I'm not a fan of the Sideshow Vader Deluxe either so I'm currently Vader-less and will likely remain that way unless this turns out much better than what we have at the moment.

Perhaps HT's effort comes the closest to replicating this...

...but I just don't see it.

Yeah for real the eyes aren't right, the brow area is wrong, the mouth area looks small to me. I dont have so much a prob with the dome and such but the face is not threatening looking like vader is known for.

Yeah, without having been able to go to SDCC, it's been hard to find matching angles.

The sad thing the fixes are so ****ing easy to do but ht is so ****ing arrogant they probably wont change a damn thing. Vader's helmets is very simple to do as opposed to a face/likeness.

They should use the Hasbro dome as a model and sculpt the widows peak, should be a walk in the park for co. like HT.

It's $300. It should look just like the Vader from 1977. It's not like it is a human likeness likeness where it needs to look like Harrison Ford or Mark Hamill, it's a freaking mask, helmet and suit that has been figurized for 38 years.

Wont know for sure until the Hot Toys Vader is released, hopefully it wont come to that & Hot Toys addresses the faults/inaccuracies with their current offering.

Looks fine to me. I still have no idea what is so wrong with this guy. The dome sits a little bit too high, but it still looks like Vader to me.

It's the most flattering angle. Try a comparison from front on and you'll see the (many) problems.

It's a helluva lot better than Sideshow's efforts thus far.

I disagree. The Deluxe Vader is pretty awesome in hand. It has some inaccuracies as apparently every single Vader ever created does but the additional head sculpt of Sebastian and the helmet pieces are really cool extras and although the exclusive is not a must have, the severed mechanical wrist is cool too.

Posed on the shelf with my HT Stormie 2 pack he looks menacing as all hell and I like the different force grip hands too. Hot Toys have improved on the padded suit for sure but in my opinion the helmet is not as well done as DX Vader, especially from the front, something makes him a little googley eyed to me. I am more than happy with my DX Vader but if I did not have one there is a good possibility I would break down for this one as Vader is just so iconic. There is no questioning who that is supposed to be on the shelf and hopefully they improve the helmet shape a bit to everyone's liking before he is released.

I hope that either they or SSC revisit The Emperor however, I have a great need for him in my collection.
