Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Something looks weird about it.... can't judge it just yet but I feel like Sideshow's looks better... I don't own that one either but at least in photos I've seen, this one looks like it might need some more work? Was hoping for light-up lightsabers too.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Every time someone sees anything they don't like with HT, they figure HT's "borrowing Sideshow parts". :lol :slap

Really it would be silly for HT to display it at all, if that were the case.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Why would anyone be surprised that one Vader figure could look the same or similar to another made by a different company? Technically speaking, if every company were to be believed & they'd got all the detailing from source material, then shouldn't every Vader look the same (within the given movies obviously)? So no, not Sideshow parts, it's just Vader. :)

The pic I was shown looks a lot like the first one here. Except a little farther away so the whole body was visible and his arms were relaxed. As a whole the chest armor is too small causing more of the midsection of the bodysuit to be visible. This is creating the look that the chestbox is too small. I don't believe it is though. For those that complain of no lights, at most you may get beltbox lights, but the chestbox in ANH never lit up, it was a solid piece with no electronics. That changed for ESB. The helmet and facemask here are the real differences between SS and HT, at least HT tried to get it asymmetrical like the screen used one. Night and day from SS on that, for those who cant tell, its time to study Vader more. ;)

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Personally, people who has the deluxe ss Vader should feel the need to buy him, that's a great piece itself.

Now for people who passed on that and prayed to the gods that's Hot toys would do an iteration, like myself, this is the one :lol

A lot of us can tell.. but a lot of us just don't care. I find my life is a lot better without worrying about every minute detail in these things.

So are they going to mould this in black plastic and leave it like that or are they going to paint it? Because it will never look authentically beaten up unless they give it a paint job.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Yep. I have mine in a more hunched, aggressive pose -- like when he's threatening the Princess. Hopefully the official pics will have some poses like that.

Still though, did they use the old ANH robes from SS? Not happy with that and not what the teaser photo promised. And the gloves are a disappointment too. The rest is not a substantial improvement -- except the helmet. I do like that and will likely get the head and just pop it on my already upgraded SS ANH Vader.

So far I see no reason to pick this one up for $250. I hope I do though.

Might be time to change it to HT VADER Rocks? :lol

Vader looks like a stooge in those Plastic Enemies pics. :slap

I wouldn't expect them to paint it accurately to the plastically damaged look that the original suit had in ANH. Even George didn't want the suit looking like that but that's what they had to work with. Which is why Vader was all shiny for ESB and RTJ. It's matte now and I think that's all that they're going to do. I'm sure some members will rough it up to be more accurate.

Yeah, while the HT dome looks a bit off to me (something about the "brows",) the mask sculpt is a big improvement over SSC DX's to my eye. It's truly bizarre that the company that seems to have gotten closest with the dome is Hasbro.

It's possible the chest armor could be pulled down to make it appear bigger.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Nope they are making Vader look too 'Asian,' too dark, too Sideshow....

please don't report me, I am being sarcastic.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Well, this was surprising.

This Vader doesn't look bad by any means but it doesn't really look like how he looks in the film either. He looks too idealized, too much like a fox or something. The sculpt of the mask, eyes, mouth and dome are just really funky. The suit doesn't look that good either the robes and cape are just plain awful.

I definitely prefer all the Sideshow modded ANH Vader's that have been shown off over the years. Those are as close to perfect as it gets IMO. Those actually look like '77 Vader stepped off screen.
