Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Agreed, SS ESB w HT jumpsuit may be the way to go for me. I just wish SSC had included the "Join me" hand.

Decent looking Vader.

I'll be keeping the ESB SS one but replacing the jumpsuit.

Old Kenobi looks good as well. But since my SS one is being repainted by Elvis, no need for it.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

It wasn't all bad.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

I don't own SCC Vader and I think this is meh. Same for Ben.

The prospect of Hot Toys Star Wars was hyped up and overblown from the beginning. It's all turned out to be a bit anticlimactic in the long run. Not awful or bad, but pretty lackluster. We've seen these guys before, just done differently.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

I wonder what the correlation between people who are ******** on this, and people who have a SCC version?

Most likely equal to those who missed the ss versions and don't want to pay ebay prices, and those who are happy to get an affordable vader.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

I'm probably just going to buy this to replace the Sideshow parts they used on my Sideshow figure. So he has newer, better Hot Toys Sideshow parts.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

buying both, I like Vader enough to have him with all my other Vader figures and stuff. Dont own the SS old Ben, so this Ben is fine by me. Likeness looks decent, but I'm not too picky. Glad to have the opportunity to be able to afford this stuff.

I think it's newer, better Sideshow Hot Toys parts. Or Hot Newer, better Sideshow Toy parts.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

I'll try and pick this up. I like how HT has been accurately representing the gait and figure of the Star Wars characters. Glad I skipped all the SSC releases... :monkey4

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Looks like Vader has thunder thighs.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Vader actually looks better, the neck down flaws don't have much to do with camera angles but the helmet and dome look better that, maybe the angles of the photos haven't been the best.

Yep, the helmet actually looks pretty good there. And I'm pretty sure Tony Mei is going to make some bank on custom capes and robes.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Well now we see who bashes SSC just because they aren't HT. There were some thing wrong with the 1st SSC Vader, but I don't see how anyone can say this is better than the ESB Vader. Especially the helmet.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

I'm not an expert on the Vader helmet and costume... but I have to agree that this doesn't look enough like the ANH Vader. There was just something very distinctive about that original helmet, and this isn't capturing that at all.

Yeah I unfortunately have to agree. I've been really blown away by most of HT's superhero figures (and continue to be in awe of the likeness on my MOS Superman), and was really hoping that same quality would have carried over to SW. But for whatever reason it hasn't. Which is a major disappointment.

I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for the likeness on Han, since Ford is so notoriously hard to sculpt. But now they can't even get Alec Guinness right either? Seriously?

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Lol. Have to admit, seeing all the goodies in the Marvel section, the old SW stuff is just not as exciting. I'm still down for everything and am looking forward to having it on display, but I'm not amped for ANH Vader the way I am for HT's Thanos, say.

Also, the years of SSC vs HT yapping in here and hyper-criticalness over every last detail takes its toll. It's nice being in the Thanos thread, for example, where everyone is just super excited it's getting made, and not bitching over every freaking detail. SW is just so old now. Too many people think they're experts and it's boring to read the killjoy criticisms again and again.
