Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Oh they will. The reason why this looks bad is because its only a prototype that's been rushed for this show and it's using Sideshow's parts from their Vader. :lecture

This is all true because I read it here.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

If toy forums posters posted it, it must be true.

Thanks for the shoddy parts, sideshow.

Hot Toys Vader, Prop helmet, Sideshow Vader.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Impossible.

Everyone said Hot Toys would produce the perfect Vader. All others would kneel before him. Even Zod.

It does look a whole lot better than any of the SSC attempt, let's face it. But I would have liked it better than that.

The siamese cat look is due to lens distortion, I'm sure of that. They Sideshowed the height unfortunately.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

HT got a better shape of the helm.
Problem is HT is ANH, Prop & SSC are ESB.

I understood that the differences between SW and ESB prop helmets are more to do with the fact it was recast from the ANH, so ESB has softer, less defined edges finished in a cleaner, higher gloss finish - but the actual shape of the facemask is not that different.

Sideshow's facemask sculpt appears off in several noticeable ways.

Some of what people are responding to is the angle the helmet is displayed at (looking down as far as the helmet can go) and the lighting (bright, even lighting and also backlit inner helmet) - both are really uncharacteristic for Vader, who is usually seen from below and in darker, higher contrast lighting.

Vader is almost never seen with the inner cowl part of the helmet lit up (isolating/backlighting the facemask ) and I think that's what's adding to the "McQuarrie look."

I totally agree. I was referring to the presence of the widowpeak.

If you look at the plexi stands supporting the HT display stands, Vader, Ben and shadow trooper appear to have taller clear stands than the stormies. I think that's what's making the Vader look so tall compared to the stormies.

Jokes on all of you. That's production. Pre orders Christmas Day. Shipping January first

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

But you know that what whining is going to happen mostly in the days following reveal pics. Threads tend to settle down after that. Except in the DX05 thread, that whining went on for ages :lol
True, but there were lots of LOLZ in that thread too.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Man - anyone defending the wonkiness of the SSC Vaydas is seriously lost. :lol
Vintij, I love ya, but if this was Sideshow you would be slamming on the negative stuff on figure HARDcore. :lol

I reckon I could throw a lump of clay at a stucco wall blindfolded and still end up with a better Vader helmet than the heap of trash Hot Toys has served up here.
:lol

:lol Nah........

Seriously, I've been bagging the **** out of their Chewie so far, have I not? I've even accepted that their Solo is more Ruffalo - plus their other recent flubbery like that horrid Arkham Batman they've spat out.

This new Vader though - objectively speaking.. is far better than what SSC have done - overall. The body proportions & suit look great, the dome shape is more like the prop than SSC' - even if not adequately enough yet. The height criticisms are misguided at this point too. There's a definite inability around here to judge depth of field in photos properly sometimes.

It needs work - of course it does, but I like the figure so far.
