Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Has anyone on here made a 3D printed Vader helmet yet? You'd think it would be pretty easy to nail down the exact dimensions that way, and fine tune all the details like they do with regular head sculpts.

Nailing down the actual look and dimensions is the problem - the helmet not only changes from movie to movie, but from scene to scene - especially in ANH. And that's why there's always so much debate about it, you could look at one publicity still and see something completely different than a screen grab from the film.

Exactly, that's why I have to laugh at everyone who gets all bent out of shape over the smallest details. Vader didn't even look like Vader all the time.

TIE Advanced is a must and maybe the Death Star Hangar.

Wow... A 1/6 scale Tie Advanced would be over 4 feet wide. Most people don't realize how unrealistic a 1/6 x wing or Tie would be to do. It'll never happen.

how`s the progress going I would love a helmet and face mask for my vader
It's going well, but we are thinking of updating the helmet prints.

Most of that is due to camera lens, distance, lighting and how they position the armor pieces and the dome. They only used 1 helmet and outfit in ANH, but the dome was all over the place because of the 3M snap tab system they used for the dome mount. They used several different helmets in ESB, but they were all fairly similar - only things no one but über hardcore people notice differs between the various outfits. And the RotJ had their particular idiosyncrasies. But, scanning an ANH or ESB helmet and armor you can basically make all versions seen in the movies.

All it takes is getting access to high end stuff and you can make a perfect Vader from all three movies and if you want to go completely nuts you can make all variants within each movie - mostly needed for ESB and RotJ.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Could anyone give anymore information to this picture please?

I assume the top part is the HT Vader and is the bottom a ROTS with changing table from HT? Is that confirmed for release?

I am very happy with my SSC Vader 2.0 but if Hot Toys made a ROTS Vader with the changing table, charred/burned sculpt, and the ability to add/remove armor pieces I would be very pleased to buy it.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Sure, the helmet changes not just from movie to movie but scene to scene... and yet, this doesn't really matter, because the essence of the character doesn't change, and that's what HT needs to try and capture. Something about this Vader is bland, you couldn't say that about the beautiful Marmit proto someone posted here.

Would love for it to be an Episode 3 & 4 DX version

A note to Hot Toys: this is how the original face mask is painted!

(And before anyone says the nose is silver, then nope: just a reflection of light from the flash. Just look at the similar effect seen on the side of the nose bridge with the three notches).
