Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

I dont know. I hadnt seen this version of vaders helmet from the side in a long time. Is this from ANH? Just a general observation about the design itself, not the figure, it looks weird from the side. Like... short or something. Dunno
As TonTon said, the frontal area of the dome looks like it's slanted inwards and looks like a dent when it should be a nice dome all around from the front to back.

Vadar's helmet will be nitpicked to the end of time no matter what. I imagine the official announcement for this will be a mess with people picking apart every inch of the helmet.

Nice gif. I'm thinking it's just a bad reflection... otherwise that's an unfortunate oversight, at least from this angle.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Thats what i dont get. I mean how do you mess up a dome, if it actually ends up like that in the final product? Human faces are very tough, when theyre a little off im more forgiving. But... a helmet? Its just curves and lines, doesnt have the detail of a human face so it cant possibly be as hard to nail down.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

R2 I can keep for the price and to have on the shelf for the time it'll take to see HT's. But 3P0 can go I think.

Fortunately there's the distinct possibility we'll know before SS 3PO arrives next December where HT stands on doing the droids.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

At least it will be a better initial reveal than the way the latest SS one was trickled out. There's a lot to be excited about--I have the latest SS Vader and can acknowledge the more obvious flaws but still love the figure. Would probably cave and pick up this one too if it looks fantastic. At least they're from different flicks.

The way HT are going we might find out before R2 ships

We'll know soon. HT doesn't wait too long between reveal and photos, right? No latter than Thursday next week, maybe as early as Monday. They're not like Sideshow in that regard. Once something is teased like this, it usually gets out there quickly. I'm not counting revealed figures at shows (like Batman Returns or the many others that HT didn't deliver on for months or years).

People say the Tama 3PO photographs poorly in all white surroundings so maybe it's similar here with black on black.

Cool gif. Looks like Vader is about to make his brain explode from the force required to take down old Ben.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Dome da Dome Dome.....DOMEEEEEEE!

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Seriously, hopefully this will take over a year to release so I can save up.
I remember the Flexpay on my SS Vader..lol

No, the front of the dome does appear to be lower than the rear. I don't think it's lighting or a bad reflection. Whether that's enough to cause people to stay away from the figure is another thing entirely.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Those who bought the Sideshow Vader with the tiny arms :lol

Let's not get carried away.

No regrets on getting this figure, although I did put on an ANH suit and some forearm tape. I'll get the HT Vader, but my SS Vader won't be going anywhere.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

The Sideshow Kenobi can be made to look incredible... but for what it costs to buy one used ($150) and then get him painted, swap the body and hands and you're probably getting close to what a new HT figure will cost.

The math in that would total $300 (plus your own effort) vs. HT Ben being maybe $230 out of the box.

Da hell is wrong with vaders helmet?? Looks really odd from the side

They're slightly different angles. The 1/6 pic is from a lower angle. I just held my Hasbro dome up to the HT image at the same angle and it looks close (the photoshop bulge looks too much.) Crown doesn't seem quite as high as the Hasbro dome in comparison though. Could be lens distortion.

Damn. :lol They aren't holding back. R2 and 3PO will also be a 2 pack and an obvious one at that. I wonder if they're going to make the two droids Diecast to separate it from Sideshows version.

You can't beat the Sideshow R2 for $130 with code... the HT will be toward $200. Will it be a little taller/bigger though?

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

If I get the ht version, it will be a stand alone on the shelf, my ssc ones will set used for battle posing with Luke and obi

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Can't believe how quiet this thread is! I guess people have been distracted by the EPVII trailer. It's a HT Vader people!!!!!
