Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I can’t understand why grown men are complaining about a female character design, and she’s not even the main character of this franchise let alone this game.

Metal Gear Solid 1-4 are all classics in my opinion. I like the direction this game is taking and to see people bash it because of a female dressed too sexy is just crazy to me.

LOL THIS :goodpost:

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

The whole real Ocelot thing bothered me but then it didn’t. I always felt it was a little weird and kind of a cop out to resurrect Liquid by adding the arm to Ocelot, and making its spirit to control him. I think the explanation was better for that in MGS4 but then I hated that it wasn’t actually Liquid the whole time.

Knowing it was Ocelot the whole time killed the replayability.

I agree with this it also annoyed me haha

and also made the whole Ocelot story lame

Which is why Guns of the Patriots kind of did another reverse on this because it then made Ocelot an awesome character again but Liquid kind of irrelevant. If you’re a fan of Ocelot its good, if you’re a fan of Liquid then its bad.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

That i don't agree with, just by pretending it was Ocelot having psycho hypnosis or whatever bs excuse it was made Ocelot lame

I think is was psycho hypnosis and a little bit of nano machines. I know a lot of Ocelot fans happy with this, but I would have preferred it was the real Liquid in my opinion.

I don't understand the need for Ocelot to be this secret hero like The Boss in the end. I didn't have any attachment to him in MGS4, and taking Liquid out of the mix just made MGS4 all the much worse.

There wasn't even a clear reason he had to be a fake Liquid. It's just Koji saying "I'll make it all a charade and I'll give you no explanation as to why he chose to be Liquid."

Like I said, MGS2 Kojima really wrote himself into a hole, and to continue from there and wrap on the Solid story was very tough. I think he succeeded, with the game sales and reviews but the story could have been a lot smoother if it wasn’t for 2.

Making Snake old so ******* fast and changing his attitude so abruptly was a big problem in MGS4.

MGS2 did pigeonhole the story in the end, but making this world wide PMC outbreak seemed farfetched.

I think if Koji's crew didn't veto his original story outlines we would of gotten 10x the game we got. The original ending was going to be Snake and Otacon being executed. I think this would of shell-shocked the gaming world. Reviving Big Boss for one scene was so idiotic.

Not to mention making Big Boss the good guy all along...

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I know a lot of people hate the story in 2 but i don't mind it really there's a few weird bits but once you read why it was done that way it's a lot easier to accept and enjoy

I don't think 2 really had the impact on the story of 4 though, or a better way to put it is it didn't need to there wasn't much in 2 that messed up the timeline, i'd go as far as to say PW messed it up more

I can't recall anything from 2 that directly impact 4 in a way that it had to go in that direction, Hideo just chose to take that direction

I don’t know if he was good the whole time, more like Darth Vader of the franchise. Yea I would have preferred the original ending Kojima had but I think a lot of fans would have gone crazy.

The only thing apparently that effected the PMC outbreak was the whole Manhattan incident if memory serves.

It's such a weird offshoot there doesn't seem to be a direct catalyst to it.

I love MGS2 for what it is, breaking the fourth wall and it's grand plot and introduction to the Patriots. Although I despised girly voice Quinton Flynn.

I would of preferred Snake just offing himself than the ending we got. It was so forced to have Big Boss show up, just to die.

The whole double FOX-DIE thing was so cheesy.

I like 2 a lot, it is my least favorite of the series but this is a series where I love 1-4 just about equal. My problem with 2 had more to do with the gameplay, and I’m saying that in hindsight of course. The boss battles were just horrible. There was nothing smart are unique about them unlike every other game in the series.

I think 2 had a huge impact on 4 because of the whole digital villains controlling the world, resurrecting Liquid who took over Ocelot’s mind, a new main character in Raiden that a lot of people liked and hated, and Olga’s baby being taken. He had to wrap up not only the series, but also answer a lot of lingering questions left in 2., while sticking to a theme.

Yea I agree, but I remember at the time of playing the game and not noticing all the flaws it had until my replays, I thought the whole thing was awesome. When Big Boss showed up my jaw was on the ground. It was a dumb idea to bring him back but I thought Kojima executed it well enough.

Nanomachines. Everything that didn't get an answer was blanketed with that answer.

The screen time wasn't wasted on Big Boss, I just hate the idea of it. I too was blinded when I first played it, although even at the first time of playing it I didn't like Big Boss's return.

MGS4 is just the first to suffer the major creative misdirection that the series is heading toward, Kiefer involved or not.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

True

Some of those could have been handled differently and better though like he could have totally forgot about Olga's baby and by time 4 came around nobody who have even asked if he did mess stuff up with PW, no need to make the whole sunny thing who i'm sure was supposed to be a boy at first no?

The AI villains i didn't really have a big problem with, it's mainly where 4 messes with previous story arcs in a bad way like tho whole Solidus body and Eva and then Big Boss etc

In MGS2 i thought the Liquid arm thing was lame but then 4 made it even lamer by negating it even being Liquid and it just being Ocelot.

The best option would have been to just completely forget about some stuff, he left a lot of other things unanswered
