Wow! The Tower of Babel didn't even cross my mind. I was too busy thinking that we were getting more social commentary about America's involvement in the war along with the detention camp stuff from Ground Zeroes. You guys are smarter than me! Great catch pturtle. I have a Bible right next to me. I'm going to read that right now!

Remember the eyes of Kaz, that look weird? Well, the eyes of the frog looking guys and the girls who teleport like Quiet have the same eyes, maybe Code Talker too.

I noticed that the guy that had a speaker in his throat had those eyes, but I didn't think of the girls! Good call!

The Tower of Babel was essentially the first instance of a one-world government. And given the nature of it's history, when the world spoke one language, I can see where Kojima got his inspiration from :lol. That was a good catch by pturtle.

From the Biblical account in Genesis 11: 1-9 (New King James translation):
Now the whole earth had one language and one speech. 2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they dwelt there. 3 Then they said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar. 4 And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.”

5 But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. 6 And the Lord said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them. 7 Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.” 8 So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city. 9 Therefore its name is called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.

It's nice to see biblical references that don't have to do with egdy apocalypse :lol

Oh, but, it does :lol. Nimrod was an ancient ruler who united the people of the Earth under one purpose and one cause - to build the Tower and a great city. He's like an forerunner to the Anti-Christ that was mentioned in Revelations.

In any case, if you're interested in world history, other ancient civilizations spoke of Nimrod in their tales. It's widely believed that the Greeks called him "Osiris", and the Mesopotamians referred to him as "Gilgamesh". The similarities are quite striking. One man, with different names, depending on the language.

Yeah, I love mythology and gods of all sorts.

Yeah, that's due to the Christian/Catholic religion plagiarizing from the Sumerians and other Mesopotamian people who came millennia before Catholicism :lol the whole genesis is pretty much the Sumerian genesis, also, 90% of their "demons" are actually Sumerian/Mesopotamian gods or kings, like Gilgamesh, if it has a name that sounds like Bagul or the Exorcist's Pazuzu, it's more than likely they're Sumerian gods.

Christianity has its roots grounded in Judaism - which includes everything that was mentioned in the Torah. So, it's not plagiarism. The key takeaway, is that many of the ancient civilizations had their own views and understandings concerning origin mythos and events that were shaping the world throughout the course of their existence. Similarities were bound to show up, especially since they were in close proximity to each other (the Middle East).

There also weren't any specific demons that were mentioned in The Torah by name. When the "The Law" was passed down in Deuteronomy, there was only a direct mandate against idol worship. "... Do not have other gods besides Me. Do not make an idol for yourself, whether in the shape of anything in the heavens above or on the earth below or in the waters under the earth."

In any case... MGS V :lol. I wonder at what point the Patriot AIs become self-aware and take control away from Zero. Would be cool if the game bridges that gap.

Ah, master theologian :duff

Of course it's not plagiarism, well, some of it is though, I'm aware of the heritage that came from Sumerians down to the Jewish all the way to the Catholics, but Sumerian gods started out as idols and then became full demonic figures with rank and everything, all in service of the Morning Star, stuff like that and the fact that angels suddenly were given wings when depicted by the Romans, Catholicism takes a lot of stuff from here and there from many religions, call it heritage or plagiarism :lol

What's your favorite religion/mythology/pantheon?

The one that has me the most fascinated as of lately are the Sumerians.

Vikings and Aztecs/Mayans I also like.

What if it all begins somehow with the Boss' AI? There's one scene where you see an AI pod from PW inside mother base, they seem to have recovered, I wonder if it's the Boss' pod or one of the other robots.

Thanks fellas, I went to catholic school most of my life so I'm pretty familiar with most scriptures.

I went to a catholic school until middle-school I guess, Sunday school and everything, which I kinda hated :lol but I got pretty separated from the doctrine as I grew older, I don't profess any religion I just like their mythologies, I'm also not an Atheist, we can't even perceive space in above three dimensions, so I believe there could be something/someone out there, I don't dislike religious fellas, but I do dislike the Catholic church as an institution.

I hope this doesn't offend anyone, I know these types of discussion can lead to some pretty messed up threads, I'll delete my comments if necessary :lol

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain & Ground Zeroes

So you're agnostic? That's pretty much what I am.

I'm not offended at all by your comments, I think your feelings towards the Catholic Church could be applied to almost all religious institutions. I really don't pay any mind to it though, as long as people's faith help them become more morally conscience and better people then I'm happy for them.

I don't know what that is :lol let me google it.

Yeah you're right, I don't know why I singled the Catholic church out, most are just the same, yeah, to each their own, live and let live and all that crap :lol

But pretty much, I believe there could be some greater intelligence/beings out there, could be divine could be extraterrestrial or maybe they're one and the same, who knows, it's a big universe, and if some theories turn out to be correct with some recent experiments, there isn't one single universe but an infinite number of universes and dimensions, in my mind, if there are beings out there, who perceive reality above the 3rd dimension, they might as well be gods :lol I believe all those religions aren't to be taken literally, but could be interpretations by people in their respective times and ages of things we're no longer in contact with.

I don't know, my whole point is to remain open to the possibility and not limit myself to the concept of a morally oriented Abrahamic-type god.

PS: After a very quick read on Agnosticism; yeah, I guess I fit in that description :lol

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain & Ground Zeroes

I'm in the same boat as you brother :duff

I just can't give my life to something that's not tangible. I need at least some proof :lol

I don't believe it's about devoting my life to a religion or a supreme being, so I don't really need any proof, I would live my life no different with or without a god, if there is an omnipotent being, I can't fathom it would be preoccupied with morality or devotion, but divinity has always fascinated me.

Although I am religious I do find the origins of religion very interesting.

There's a theory as you guys have said that it even comes from the first religion we are aware of, Egyptian Gods.

Ra, the Sun god was a miracle birth from his mother. Often depicted with the halo.

Which all has its basis in astrology.

From the video, I assume all character can change their outfit (including Quiet as was shown as "Naked") but DD in sneaking suit is just odd. Partners mechanics and how DD can mark targets looks damn good. Pretty sure I wont be using much of D-walker, though.

Overall gameplay looks really solid, so all that's left is to experience the story first hand.

I noticed in the last trailer, Big Boss was wearing a big battle suit in the scene where Skull Face is behind him. I'm sure PAK will squirt that one out.
