Hot Toys seem to be missing an opportunity by nailing a ANH version. surely they know we would buy Vaders from all three films if they were represented properly. perhaps there is work yet to be done on the proto? hopefully so… Darth Vader should be the foundation of their Star Wars line.

This. The errors on the proto just detract from the other 80% of the figure. I really hope they fix the chest box size and helmet paint apps at least. That would tip me over into a pre-order.

Great audio track. :rock :lol

Yeah.. it just doesn't look like 1977 Vader - at all.

Unless in hand pics blow me away, I'll likely pass.

I'm on the fence, but only because I don't want to wait until the ESB Vader - yet that means I might well buy this and sell it immediately. It's just not sharp enough.

I just find it weird that the cape looks stitched up like the ss Anh version, the shoulder bells designs are wrong and looks like carbon copies of the uniquely inaccurate ss Anh version, the codpiece is bent in the same position as the ss Anh version

My only real gripe about the mask is the length of the cheeks-- a bit too extended and seem to droop.
Other than than, if they kept the eyelids black and got rid of the nose insert, it's b fine.

Unfortunately it's unlikely they'd ever try to duplicate the rougher paintjob and more beatup look of the actual helmet. They just wouldn't want to risk turning off customers who either didn't know any better, or who just happen to want a much more sleek and shiny Vader.

Vader is a great villain! I love vader! I really want a 1/6 perfect anh vader. I have had several 1/6 vader figure. Hasbro, both sideshow (delux sold cause his thin arms and his giant gloves...aaarrgggg, and anh never came out from his box). Hot toys gave me a hope. A perfect anh vader for my showcase. I was expecting for a figure like reeve superman. Something of definitive. Now every picture that I see encourage me to improve my custom vader that has permanently taken its place in the showcase. Hot toys vader is a nice figure. It's really impressive, but that weird gloves, that out of size chestbox, that not screen accurate belt , that sporty slim body, that surprised facemask. Oh my god. I've to became a customizer! So I do it! But hot toys have broken my heart! Sorry for my english.... sorry about the venting.

I have to agree. This is particularly unimpressive. The cape also... looks terrible!

Overall, a swing and a miss. I'll stick with my SSC.

Yeah, the quest continues......

It's good really, because now I can take stock of the few things I'd like to catch up on, & not feel like a mouse on a treadmill with these big OG characters popping up one after the other.

Yeah exactly. Sold within an hour of opening it. The funny thing is I'm now thinking of getting another one... collecting is a condition for which there's no cure. Well, except bankruptcy.

I stand by my eleventh hour decision to back out of this one. But to be fair, if I wasn't a crazy minimalist with unforgiving personal criteria I would totally get one as it has more going for it than not, based on what I've seen. Congrats to all who've found the droid they're looking for. <--- I totally said that.

I hope Bandai / Tamashii make a Vader now. :lol

Tamashii did a couple of months ago and it is glorious.
